Guest Speaker Bio - Dr. Onyemaechi Nweke

Dr. Onyemaechi C. Nweke is a Physical Scientist with the Office of Environmental Justice at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington DC. Dr Nweke has 11 years experience working on regulatory development and science-policy issues at EPA. Currently, she works on initiatives within EPA to develop a scientific foundation for integrating environmental justice in environmental policy, and assess for and consider disproportionate environmental health impacts in regulatory development. She also represents the Office of Environmental Justice on the Federal Interagency Health Equity Team for the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities, and has contributed to ensuring the integration of environmental health in key national policy documents such as the Department of Health and Human Services' National Stakeholder Strategy for Achieving Health Equity and National Prevention Strategy. Dr Nweke has a Masters Degree in Public Health with specialization in Environmental and Occupational Health from Saint Louis University School of Public Health in Missouri, and a Doctorate in Public Health with specialization in Environmental Health Sciences from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.
