Kirt Phillip is a Senior Administrative Officer within NIMHD’s Office of Administrative Management Administrative Services Branch. Kirt, a native of the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, grew up in Queens, New York, and spent his summers in the Caribbean, where he gained his love for cooking and the importance of family. Kirt moved to Maryland after attending St. John’s University in Queens, where he pursued a degree in mathematics.

Kirt began his career at NIH in 2007 within the Administrative Management Branch of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). There, he held administrative positions within the Laboratory of Genomic Integrity and branch support roles for the Perinatology Research Branch housed at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Kirt started with the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in August 2015 in the Translational and Functional Genomics Branch, moved to the Intramural Administrative Management Branch in July 2018, and became an Administrative Officer shortly thereafter.

In his spare time, Kirt enjoys traveling with his wife, trying new restaurants, biking with his daughter, and spending time with his family. Kirt is excited to be at NIMHD and aims to be part of the process that makes the government more efficient.
