Centers of Excellence Grants

Program Description

The NIMHD Centers of Excellence (COE) supports institutions that conduct multidisciplinary research to close health gaps and improve health across populations. The Centers strengthen institutional research capacity through investigator development, research infrastructure, mentoring, and collaborative scientific projects. The program also supports community engagement, outreach, and dissemination activities to help ensure that research findings are shared with relevant audiences and can inform future studies.

COEs focus on scientific areas with the potential to have a direct and demonstrable impact on addressing health disparities and improving health. They concentrate thematically on specific diseases or conditions and the documented health differences and needs of at least one specific population. The focus may also include prevention topics that cut across health conditions and populations.
